My name is Peter Blackwood, and I am a nature and landscape photographer of the NY Finger Lakes and Adirondack Mountains. I also enjoy imaging in Central Florida during yearly visits, and recently have had three photographic trips to  national parks in Utah and Arizona. Frequent outings via kayak and wilderness camping have kept my photographic art well connected to the environment around us, and I attempt to convey to the viewer that intimacy of nature.

I have recently had my website and images favorably reviewed in the national photography magazine SHUTTERBUG, including the comments  he’s not afraid to work hard for his shots. The same can be said for his image of a rainbow over the canyon at dusk that, like the rest of Blackwood’s photographs, features deeply saturated colors (although there are a few monochrome shots), strong composition, and care and passion for his craft” .  To read the full review click  HERE

The fifth annual solo show of my photography at the Wood Library in Canandaigua will begin with a reception the evening of Thursday May 6th. and will extend thru early June . All the photographs in this show will have been created since my last Wood Library exhibit in May 2009. They are available for purchase by contacting me. Photographs from each of these yearly shows can be viewed on this website. There are also 3 framed images hanging on the main floor of the library which have been donated.

I have 20+ framed images always on display at All Things Art in downtown Canandaigua.  These are part of the Gallery and Gift Shop and are for sale. Here is a link to All Things Art for hours.

You can find 2 framed and matted photographs of Canandaigua scenes hanging permanently in the Canandaigua City Hall, and pictures on display intermittently around Canandaigua at various locations as contracted thru All Things Art. I also have one image hanging in the lobby of the Canandaigua branch of the Hochstein School of Music and Dance.

Images have been created using Canon digital Cameras and lenses. Prints are made on Ilford paper with archival Epson pigment ink on a large format Epson printer. Some processing is done via computer, however picture elements are not added to enhance the images beyond their natural composition. I view computer image processing to be nearly identical to my many years of darkroom processing.

Images are only sold matted and framed and are priced $75 and higher, depending on size and frame. The most common size image is 11X14 inches in 16X20 framing. Some of the images are available printed at 13X19 inches in an 18X24 frame.

All matting is double and I do my own mat cutting and framing.

The pictures are best viewed in person rather than online, and the 'inventory' changes over time. Please contact the artist:
